RAV - Rethink Aquatic Value

Food & Bio Cluster Denmark run a program called Closing Loops, that aims to accelerate the circular economy and sustainable production of food.

As a part of this program, Nordinvent has entered into a partnership with Aurelis Aps, ENORM, DTU Aqua and Business Lolland-Falster called RAV, -Rethink Aquatic Value.

The aim with the project is to find the optimal process for converting blue biomass (musselspat, the smallest growthstage of a mussel), considered a low value product, to high value food products, primarily trout by introducing a new process where the mussel is eaten by a soldierfly larvae, and then converted to trout food.

The way we do that, is by extracting the spat mussel to a biomass that is consumable by the larvae while extracting critical proteins and nutrients.
