The Story of Nordinvent

Through his work as a mechanical engineer in the food industry, our CEO Lars Hansen saw firsthand how much of the raw material potential that was wasted in the production of food, and witnessed how most of the industry considered the wasted potential a premise of production.

Up to 99% of the value in the raw material is unrealized, Coffee is a notable example of this, where coffee goes through a long and energy intensive journey, just to end up as food waste when a cup of coffee has been created. It simply holds so much more potential.

As he worked in the industry, he identified significant barriers for optimizing utilization of the ingredients, and how to address them with mechanical solutions.

In may of 2020, Lars and his mother Marianne founded Nordinvent, to commercially roll out these solutions, first as a mechanical solution for stabilizing beer mash, then oat milk production, then grass proteins for human consumption. A lot of the work early on was quite heavily research focused, but as the solution took form, they started realizing that they could reach out even further commercially if they opened up their own refinery on a As-a-service model.

Interest grew, and in 2025 the Broad Spectrum biorefinery at Næstved was finally finished in the first iteration.

Here we offer to be the binder between the larger food industrial companies and companies that want to utilize waste to create new products.
